On Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m., Sala degli Stucchi – Palazzo Trissino, the Accademia Olimpica will host a conference dedicated to Hannah Arendt.<\/p>\n
The event aims to further explore a theme that had already emerged during the conference “Democracy Between Past and Present”<\/em>, organized by the Academy in 2023: the relationship between democracy and Hannah Arendt\u2019s thought, which offers an original rethinking of the connections between philosophy, history, and politics.<\/p>\n That conference led to the publication of a collection of essays, edited by Dino Piovan and published by the Academy in 2025, entitled “Democracy Between Past and Future”<\/em>. The title is deliberately inspired by Arendt\u2019s well-known work “Between Past and Future”<\/em> (first published in 1961), in which the philosopher reflected on various dimensions of the crisis of the contemporary world. Her thought now represents a valuable resource to revisit at a time when crisis seems to characterize the current state of our democracies.<\/p>\n Following opening remarks by the President of the Academy, Giovanni Luigi Fontana, Dino Piovan will introduce the life and thought of Hannah Arendt. The conference will continue with talks by Olivia Guaraldo<\/strong>, “Hannah Arendt: Thinking and Acting in the Gap Between Past and Future”<\/em>, and Natascia Tosel<\/strong>, “Constitutio Libertatis: Loving the Constitution, Instituting Freedom.
