The aim of this project is to shed light on the processes, interpretations and negotiations through which adult education policies are enacted in local contexts.<\/p>\n
Overall, the project focuses\u00a0on the\u00a0reorganization of the\u00a0adult education\u00a0system\u00a0in Italy,\u00a0which led to the establishment of the\u00a0Provincial Centres for Adult Instruction (Centri Provinciali per l\u2019Istruzione degli Adulti,<\/em>\u00a0CPIAs) in 2012.\u00a0More specifically,\u00a0the aim of the project is to clarify\u00a0how the Italian\u00a0policy\u00a0understands the relationship between adult education and community development\u00a0and\u00a0which functions the CPIAs\u00a0should serve with this regard. Moreover, the study seeks to examine and explain how\u00a0the\u00a0educational practices towards adults, especially those related to the functions of socialisation and selection of formal education, are influenced by the changes within adult education policies.<\/p>\n The project embraces an ethnographic approach and involves the participation of two school communities, which are part of the same CPIA and are located in two different neighbourhoods of the same town.<\/p>\n
