The presentation of two studies, based on different methodological approaches and carried in different countries, give us the chance to discuss critically about masculinities.<\/p>\n

Valeria Ribeiro Corossacz presents a study among a group of White middle-high class men in Rio de Janeiro. She will focuses on how, in a society based on racism, sexism and social class inequalities, privilege is perceived and experienced in terms of social class, sex and race and how it plays a central role in the reproduction of social inequality. At the same time, she will analyse the methodological characteristics and problems of exploring a dominant subject and how this kind of study can help in deconstructing the supposed universality of the subject.<\/p>\n

Massimo Modesti explores gay online dating from the point of view of a group of young Asians\u2019 living in Milan. His study reveals the racialisation of aesthetic and desirability hierarchies that guides the selection of a sexual and romantic partner, considering that Asians are often excluded in a majority White context on this ground. The research puts a light on the sexist and orientalist categories that support the hegemonic desirability hierarchies, their impact on the wellbeing of Asians men, but also the coping strategies they adopt to challenge these frames.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
