How to do the political history of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) movements? Within the seminar “Modus operandi”, this first meeting proposes a reflection on the logic of implementation of the research, based on the case study of French and Italian LGBT movements. Some theoretical models of the sociology of social movements applied to the LGBT mobilizations will also be discussed, to highlight their heuristic potential and their limits.<\/p>\n

At the same time, we will question the positioning of the subject of the research in an activist context and the forms of participation in which the reseracher is implicated in virtue of an alleged academic authority. What kind of epistemological and methodological problems are involved in the production of a scientific knowledge on forms of activism that seek the affirmation of a political autonomy? In other words, can an ethic of non-interference be practicable and sustainable?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
