Alexander Schuster holds a dual doctorate from the Universities of Trento and Strasbourg with a thesis on gender-neutral family institutions (mention tr\u00e8s bien avec f\u00e9licitations) and a postgraduate diploma from the European Public Law Organisation. He is co-coordinator and member for Italy of ECSOL <\/a>and has acted as a trainer of legal professionals in Italy and Europe on discrimination issues. He currently collaborates with the Department of Legal Sciences at the University of Verona and is a member of the Board of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Trento.<\/p>\n

Alexander Schuster has coordinated important interdisciplinary research, in particular one for the Italian government on LGBT discrimination in Southern Italy. He is an Italian lawyer and independent legal expert for the EU Commission and the Council of Europe, European governments and NGOs. He has taught and researched at universities and research centres in Trento, Innsbruck, Lund, Montr\u00e9al, Graz, Toronto, Washington, Athens, Heidelberg, Strasbourg and Udine. His academic interests include fundamental rights, EU law and new legal challenges posed by bioethical and technological research, such as LGBTI access to reproductive technologies. He has published on various legal topics ranging from American law to EU law and comparative law in the fields of constitutional law and bio-law.
