Borgo Roma as a living organism: students called upon to contribute to a reading, through “withdrawal”, of the neighborhood

The project “La Linea Rossa: percorsi urbani tra la fabbrica della conoscenza e la fabbrica della creatività”was present at the University at the Borgo Roma scientific center on Tuesday, April 28, Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30, 2026, with a dedicated and interactive meeting point within the university campus.
The initiative is part of the project’s action research process and takes shape through “Anatomy of a Neighborhood – The Neighborhood as a Living Body” ( “Anatomia di un quartiere – Il quartiere come corpo vivo“), a listening and observation device that invites the student community to contribute to the construction of a sensitive reading of Borgo Roma. The goal is to activate a diagnostic phase, capable of bringing to light often invisible dynamics of daily life in the neighborhood: perceptions, experiences, critical issues, and sensations of urban space.
Over the course of the three days at the set-up point, students and their perceptions and sensations are placed at the center of the sensitive mapping of the neighborhood through questions and quick interactive activities. The withdrawal phase does not end here. The most in-depth investigation phase is now underway through the administration of a questionnaire that investigates the relationship between students with the Borgo Roma neighborhood, their housing and social conditions, and the use that young people make, or can make, of the spaces they live in or pass through every day.
