International Conference “On Trial. Claiming Feminist Justice in Dark Times”

University of Verona, December 3–4, 2026

“Hannah Arendt” Center for Political Studies, in collaboration with the SAFI Network (SOCIETAS APERTA FEMINORUM IN IURIS TEORIA) and the PoliTeSse research center.

Organized by the Arendt Center as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie project “Rewriting Rights,” this conference explores the dual sense in which feminist justice is currently “on trial”: in courtrooms, where the conduct and performativity of legal proceedings expose the structural limitations of institutional justice; and in culture, where dominant narratives continue to normalize gender-based violence. The conference aims to foster a dialogue between feminist philosophy, critical theory, and socio-legal perspectives, questioning what more transformative forms of justice might look like.
