A project for the future of Borgo Roma
Located in the southern part of Verona, Borgo Roma is one of the city’s most populous and lively neighborhoods, but at the same time one of its most socio-economically fragile areas.
With its 28,223 residents — over 22% of whom are between 15 and 34 years old — the neighborhood hosts two strategic hubs for the city: the Borgo Roma Hospital and the scientific campus of the University of Verona.
These two institutions represent centers of innovation and knowledge, but also potential drivers of social and cultural development for the entire community.
It is precisely from this dual identity, and from the desire to enhance the neighborhood’s potential, that “La Linea Rossa” was born.
Linea Rossa aims to map the needs, desires, and challenges of young people in order to design concrete initiatives that make Borgo Roma a more welcoming, livable, and youth-friendly place.
The project is supported by Fondazione Cariverona and involves several local partners: the association COCAI (project leader), the cooperative Energie Sociali, the University of Verona, and the Municipality of Verona.
The involvement of organizations already active in the neighborhood will be key to responding effectively to residents’ needs and strengthening the community’s sense of identity and belonging.
This initiative represents the natural continuation of the experience of “La Fabbrica del Quartiere” — a project carried out over the past two years in Borgo Roma to reinforce the bond between community and urban space, promoting residents’ participation and social cohesion.
To officially launch the project, a kick-off event will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., at Spazio LINK (Via Benedetti 26/B).
The event, which will open with a welcome aperitif, will be an opportunity to meet the project’s promoters, learn more about its content, and share ideas, proposals, and visions for the future of Borgo Roma.
