Our Hannah Arendt Center for Political Studies at the University of Verona is promoting the conference “Political Animals: Anthropological Perspectives on the Ancient World,” which will be held on Friday, April 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Aula Caprioli (Via S. Francesco, 22).

The talk will be given by Cristiana Franco (University for Foreigners of Siena) and moderated by Professor Guaraldo.

The conference offers a reflection on the relationship between humans and animals in the ancient world, bringing together anthropological perspectives and political philosophy. Starting from the notion of “political animal,” the ways in which ancient societies conceptualized the distinction—and the relationships—between humanity and animality will be explored, offering useful insights for interrogating the present.

The initiative is part of the Political Theory course for the Master’s Degree in Philosophical Sciences and is open to students and all interested parties.
