📣 On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we invite you to join a collective reflection on femininity, models of masculinity, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
📍 AIED, in collaboration with the PoliTeSse Research Centre of the Department of Human Sciences at the University of Verona, and with the patronage of the Municipality of Verona, invites you to “Gender-Based Violence: History and Politics, Psyche and Imaginary”, on Monday, November 23, at 7:00 PM at Casa ATER (San Zeno).
🗣️ What models have been passed down to us, and what happens when we identify with them?
What responsibility does masculinity bear, and how can it change?
Why is women’s self-determination still obstructed, judged, and punished?
What institutional tools are available to combat gender-based violence against women and LGBTQIA+ people?
On the one hand, a psychoanalytic perspective tracing the history of bodies and desires that have been denied, from the notion of a “single gender” to gender binarism; on the other, a political perspective examining strategies to combat violence and their implementation, from European and national policies to sexuality and relationships education.
Speakers:
- Anna Cordioli, SPI-IPA psychoanalyst and European Chair of the IPA’s “Sexual and Gender Diversities Studies”;
- Massimo Prearo, political scientist at the University of Verona and Scientific Director of the PoliTeSse Research Centre.
