The seminar Defining Childhood. Decentering the Gaze for a Critical Pedagogy offers a reflection on childhood as a symbolic, pedagogical, and political construction, focusing on the processes through which educational discourses define and normalize it. Drawing on critical pedagogy and gender studies, the seminar will explore the role of images and forms of knowledge in education, and discuss alternative perspectives capable of challenging the heterocisnormative assumptions underlying pedagogical practices.
The seminar will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, in Room C at Palazzo Ex Economia in Verona. The seminar will feature contributions from Elena Luciano, Chiara Sità, and Ale Santambrogio, and will be introduced and moderated by Andrea Ierna and Letizia Rota.
