The Comeback of the Witches. Knowledge, revolution, and desire

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1.4 room (Polo Zanotto).

With Giulia Longoni (UNIPI), Federica Merenda (SSSA) e Gabriele Parrino (SNS)

From the feminist demonstrations of the 1970s to present-day transfeminist global strikes organized by Ni una menos, witches are invoked on Italian streets as comrades, sisters, ancestors, and allies. Witches are also used as central figures in feminist and anti-capitalist theory to think about bodies and subjectivity, as well as oppression and desire. Throughout the work of Luciano Parinetto, Luisa Muraro and Silvia Federici, witches become powerful individualities, symbols of alternative communities. Representing new strategies of desire and knowledge, their histories expose the subversive power indispensable to illuminate the struggles that take place within and between individual bodies and local communities.
