Gianmaria Colpani is Assistant Professor of Gender and Postcolonial Studies at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. He obtained his PhD in Political Philosophy and Gender Studies in 2017, at the University of Verona (Italy) and Utrecht University (the Netherlands). He works on queer Marxism and queer of color critique, theories of hegemony, postcolonial studies, and intersectionality. His current research project is about the solidarity group Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) and the relations that the group established with other women’s, lesbian, and Black groups during the 1984-85 miners’ strike against the Thatcher government. He has published on homonationalism, homonormativity, and postcolonial sexual politics in Italian and English. He is the co-editor of Postcolonial Transitions in Europe. Contexts, Practices and Politics (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016).
