As part of the series of events dedicated to the relationship between urban design, institutions and contemporary transformations, Marco Biraghi will give a lecture entitled What Remains of Architecture, focusing on the themes explored in the book of the same name (Einaudi, 2025).

The talk will offer a critical reflection on the current state of architecture, questioning the possibility of a design practice that is independent of market logic. In this context, particular attention will be paid to the architect’s role between the technical dimension and the ‘aesthetics of consensus’, highlighting the need to rethink the theoretical and historical foundations of the discipline.

By drawing on the origins and tradition of architecture as a critical discipline, the lecture will outline possible alternatives for redefining the role of the architect, understood not merely as a technician, but as an intellectual figure capable of interpreting and guiding the transformations of contemporary society.

The event forms part of the activities promoted by the Hannah Arendt Centre, aimed at fostering interdisciplinary dialogue between architecture, politics and public space.
